If you change your store settings before your Google Analytics property is upgraded to Universal Analytics the data you see in Google Analytics will not be accurate.<\/div>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2 id=\"check_for_ua\">Step 1: Check for Universal Analytics Tracking Code<\/h2>\n<p>New Google Analytics accounts will automatically be created to use the new Universal Analytics tracking code. Google Analytics accounts created before 4\/2\/2014 will be automatically transferred to Universal Analytics, but when exactly this will occur for all accounts is not defined by Google.<\/p>\n<p>Before changing your ProductCart store settings to use Universal Analytics, verify that your Google Analytics property has been upgraded. Wait 24 to 48 hours before checking again. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><b>DO NOT<\/b><\/span> change your ProductCart store settings until you see the \u201cTransfer completed\u201d text.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition to checking for the \u201cUniversal Analytics Upgrade\u201d link, there are a couple of other ways to verify that you have Universal Analytics. These are outlined in the <a href=\"#other_ways_to_check\">Other Ways to Check for Universal Analytics<\/a> section of this article.<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2 id=\"upgrade_ga_to_universal\">Step 2: Upgrade to Universal Analytics<\/h2>\n<p>If you have checked your Google Analytics property and you have the \u201cUniversal Analytics Upgrade\u201d link with text below it that states \u201cTransfer not started\u201d, then you need to upgrade your Property before you change your ProductCart store settings.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Here are the steps for upgrading your Google Analytics property:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Log into your <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/analytics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Google Analytics<\/a> account.<\/li>\n<li>Click the \u201cAdmin\u201d link in the top menu.<\/li>\n<li>Select the appropriate account from the Account drop-down list.<\/li>\n<li>Select the appropriate property from the Property drop-down list.<\/li>\n<li>Click the \u201cUniversal Analytics Upgrade\u201d link. This process can take from 24 \u2013 48 hours to complete. Wait 24 \u2013 48 hours and go back to the <a href=\"#check_for_ua\">Check for Universal Analytics Tracking Code<\/a> section of this article (Step 1) to check your upgrade progress.<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 10px 0;\"><\/div>\n<h2 id=\"update_productcart_settings\">Step 3: Update Your ProductCart Store Settings<\/h2>\n<p>Once you have verified that your Google Analytics property has been upgraded to Universal Analytics, you are ready to change the appropriate ProductCart store settings. The tracking code has changed completely between Classic and Universal Analytics, so it should be easy to tell the difference.<\/p>\n<p>The easiest way to determine which version your Property is using is based on the JavaScript library it is using. Classic Analytics used the \u201cga.js\u201d JavaScript library while Universal Analytics uses the \u201canalytics.js\u201d library.
