Security warnings can drive customers away

Written by NetSource Commerce

What’s a security warning? Here’s an example:

IE Security Warning

When answering technical support tickets, we still see this problem quite often. Merchants might not know that the problem exists because FireFox, for example, does not show a big warning like IE does (the screen shot above is from IE 8).

  • Security warnings can definitely scare customers and increase the drop-off rate
  • It only takes 1 page element loaded onto the HTTP protocol to trigger a warning, and you might not realize that you recently introduced the problem when adding a new third-party element to your page (e.g. new tracking code, RSS feed, etc.)
  • Take a minute to make sure your store is not triggering any security warnings
